Lee Bell, Executive Director
Lee has a long and extensive history with our agency. He has been with our organization for over 11 years holding nearly every position within our agency including; Camp Counselor, Division Head, Administrative Supervisor of our After-School Programs, Co-Director of our Vacamas Day Camp, Conference Center Director, Director of Camping and most recently Director of Operations before this recent promotion.
Lee brings extensive amount of executive planning, administration, communications and marketing experience in both the public and private sector. His overall goals over the next several years through his direct leadership are to increase participation in all programs, develop a long-term organizational plan, enhance agency promotion and marketing, support and expand our after-school initiatives, expand the use of technology within the organization’s administration, drive revenue through camp, programs and conference, while most importantly reach out, communicate and grow our donor base, relationships with support agencies, and alumni within the area and throughout the globe.
Brett Rollins, Development Director
Brett Rollins joined the HI4Y staff as Director of Development in 2017. Since completing his Masters Degree from New York University, Brett has over 14 years of experience as a non-profit fundraiser in the New York City region, encompassing foundation and government grants, individual giving, board development, corporate sponsorships, events and more. Prior to HI4Y, Brett served as the Director of Development for diverse organizations including the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, the Art Directors Club and the Horticultural Society of New York and has led fundraising at other agencies in the education, arts and social service fields. A native of Ohio, Brett has been a New Yorker for almost 2 decades and appreciates that Camp Vacamas offers him a natural respite from the city, just like it does for the children that we serve!
Janneris Geraldo, Director of Programs
Janneris attended Seton Hall University where she majored in International Relations & Spanish Literature while running government-sponsored recreation programs and summer day camps. She was hired to coordinate and expand after-school programs in Newark and was integral in opening and overseeing three sites. Janneris later transitioned to the role of Registrar where she established strong bonds with HI4Y’s children and families. Her dedication to service and skills an administrator enabled her to earn the lead supervisory position for all camping and after-school programs at HI4Y.
Jill Burgy, Conference Director
Jill Burgy joins the HI4Y team with a passion for youth based programming and the outdoors. She has spent most of her career working as an environmental educator. Connecting students with their natural surroundings through place based learning. Since completing her Masters Degree from Ramapo College Jill has been dedicated to impacting the lives of youth and will continue creating meaningful group experiences as Hi4Y Conference Director.
Matthew Evans, Operations Director
On completion of his degree in Photojournalism in Wales UK, Matthew was drawn to youth work and found much reward in supporting and empowering young people. Matthew's journey at HI4Y Camp Vacamas began in 2008 at the waterfront, working his first summer as a Lifeguard/counselor before becoming Waterfront Director and later, Head Counselor. In between summer's 2008-2012 Matthew worked in our Teen Opportunity Program as an outreach worker in several Brooklyn schools. Matthew returned to HI4Y Camp Vacamas in early 2017 and took on the roles of Conference Director before transitioning into the role of Director of Operations.
Steve Allison, Executive Assistant
After graduating from the University of the West of Scotland with a BA Hons Degree in Human Resource Management in 2011, Steve traveled for a summer at Vacamas as a counselor. Since then, he has returned for a number of summers, firstly as a counselor and then later to support the organization with marketing. He has worked for the UK’s largest banking group, Lloyds Banking Group and also the largest Insolvency Practitioner, Creditfix in a marketing capacity. He joined us as Executive Assistant in March 2018.
Monette Hamilton, After-School Site Director
Monette is enrolled in the University of Bridgeport’s Ideal Program completing a double bachelor’s degree in human services and psychology and has received numerous awards and recognition for community organizing and advocacy.
Since 1998, she’s served communities by providing enrichment spoken word and culturally related assemblies for several school districts, community centers, faith-based and nonprofit organizations.
