In canoe teens will be working towards a 6 day experience canoeing down the Delaware River if they enroll in the 19 day program.  If they enroll in the 12 day starter program, they will be taking a few day trips throughout their stay.

The teens begin their trip at Kittatinney (Barryville) campsite where they practice setting up tents before enjoying the on-site facilities which includes a games room and pool table.

As they begin their trip down the river, they will canoe between various camp sites, stopping off for meals, swimming and campfires along the way.

The river is surrounded by fantastic scenery and the teens will have opportunities to stop for photos as they go along.

On this trip teens will encounter several different class of rapids as well as being able to enjoy the many wonders of a waterway.  On camp they will be living in a 4 person Lean-to cabin next to the lake with access to external cold water facilities. Meals will be prepared by campers over an open camp fire. The first week of camp will prepare for the trip practicing the skills necessary for the trip.

MUSTS FOR THIS PROGRAM:

If your teenager is looking to learn new skills, make new friends while canoeing between some fantastic places, then this is the program for them!

Affordability

As a non-profit organization, HI4Y’s aim is to make sure that summer camp is affordable for all children. Each child’s fee is set individually, taking into account family income and size and using a sliding fee scale. Our fees are a great deal less than other summer programs, and sibling discounts are available.

At Camp Vacamas, our fees for 19 day sessions range from $900 to $2,500 per session for a full compliment of comprehensive services and activities. Transportation to camp is provided from NYC, Long Island and selected locations in New Jersey at no additional cost.

Safety

Our number one priority is the safety of your child. We maintain a high staff-to-camper ratio, and our experienced staff members are background-checked, fully trained and carefully supervised. Camp Vacamas is accredited by the American Camp Association, as well as local and state Health Departments. We have an onsite medical team, and there is a hospital just minutes away. All waterfront activities are conducted by certified American Red Cross Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, and a Waterfront Director.

I had an amazing time on the canoe trip and met some of my best friends there. We explored some beautiful places and I learned so much.
